Meet Daniel DeMelo.
Daniel DeMelo is a second-generation American, lifelong Democrat, software engineer, proven leader and Portlander for life with decades of experience advocating for his community.
He resides in the Kerns neighborhood with his college sweetheart.
Growing Up
Growing up in Far SW Portland with Portland addresses served by Clackamas County Sheriffs, Lake Oswego schools, and Tigard-administered locally-operated water, Daniel experienced firsthand the challenges of ineffective and confusing government.
He walked a mile-and-a-half on sidewalk-free streets to the #12 bus as soon as he could make the hour-and-a-half journey to SE Portland.
Coming of age in Portland's vibrant music scene, Daniel had the privilege of performing alongside local heavyweights like Typhoon and Red Fang, gracing the stages of Portland's premier venues like the Crystal and Wonder Ballrooms. His first job was teaching guitar for Parks & Rec.
Daniel grew up with a strong sense of justice. His advocacy began early. As a youth he attended racial & economic justice protests and led a movement for school reform.
